The month of August represents that the end of summer, meaning the new school year is just around the corner, BBQ season is closing and cold weather is slowly approaching. But there is still time for you to get in your last hurrah with a road trip to your end of summer music festival. While the trend of music festivals has grown astronomically over the last few years, with attendance of infamous gatherings like Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo hitting the hundreds of thousands—there are still countless options for you to get your music fix without the crowds and the repeated lineups.


North Coast Music Festival
About: Celebrating its 5th anniversary, North Coast Festival takes place in downtown Chicago; giving attendees the vast city skyline as a backdrop to their music listening experience. Known for a plethora of electronic artists, this music festival brings Chicago a laundry list of big name EDM artists and up-and-coming underground acts alike.
When: August 29-31

Austin City Limits
About: The long running Austin City Limits festival encompasses more than just a musical experience for attendees, with featured food trucks, art installations and a local market which showcases to essence of everything Austin. With a variety of genres showcased at this Texas festival, attendees can catch classic rock, indie, EDM and hip-hop acts over two back-to-back weekends.
When: October 3-5; 10-12

Dimensions Festival
About: Known as one of Europe's largest underground music festivals, Dimensions is known for its impeccable sound systems and its picturesque beach locale. Popularized by the curation of countless unknown and up-and-coming electronic acts, this festival features of the sounds of tech, house, dubstep and drum & bass.
When: August 28 – September 1

Electric Zoo
About: Founded in 2009 and taking place every Labor Day weekend, Electric Zoo music festival features a wide variety of electronic music act as well. Known for growing into one of the largest mainstream EDM in the United States, this musical experience has reached crowds of 150,000 over the years.
When: August 29 - 31

Ilesoniq
About: Coming up this weekend, this Montreal based music festival boasts some of the best urban artists of today. Featuring many of Canada's rising stars, this music festivals showcases main stage big names and unique unknowns alike.
When: August 15-16
Where: Montreal, Canada
Who to see: Dillion Francsis, Tiesto, Adventure Club, Iggy Azalea, The Knocks*, Tyga, Thomas Jack*, Juicy J, Seven Lions
